Jacob Waymon is excited to be joining Frisco Independent School District as the Choir Director at Adelle R. Clark Middle School for the upcoming school year.
Jacob formerly served Richardson Independent School District as a Music Specialist at Dover Elementary School where he taught approximately 300 students yearly in Pre-K through Fifth Grade using a Kódaly inspired instruction method in which he has Level I certification. Jacob holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) and a Master of Music in Conducting from the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University (OCU).
During his time at UCA, Jacob solidified himself as a standout among his peers. He was awarded "Student-Teacher of the Semester" by the College of Education and "Department of Music Outstanding Student" for his work at UCA and his student teaching placement.
Jacob served as a Graduate Conducting Associate at OCU, assisting with the Wind Ensemble, Wind Philharmonic, Oklahoma Youth Winds, and undergraduate conducting courses. In conjunction with this role, Jacob was the Assistant Conductor for the Oklahoma Opera and Musical Theatre Company's mainstage productions of Die Fledermaus and Spring Awakening, the former awarded first place in the National Opera Association's Production Competition. As recognition for his outstanding work at OCU, Jacob was honored with an invitation to join The Society of Pi Kappa Lambda and is now a lifetime member of this prestigious honor society.
